It uses the .B mcsysinfoperl(3) interface to obtain it's data. .PP When the .B sysinfo command is invoked the GUI is started if the following conditions are all met: .sp .RS \- The .B $DISPLAY environment variable is set. .br \- The command line option .B \-\-nw was not specified. .br \- The .B Tk module is available in the .B perl(1) bundled with .B SysInfo(tm). .br .RE .sp .PP When the GUI is started it will automatically retrieve selected classes of system data and display the results. A progress meter will display .I "Probing system" while the data is retrieve via the .B mcsysinfoperl(3) .IP "\fBShow Host\fR" The text entry field next to the .B "Show Host" button can be used to retrieve and display data from a remote host. Enter a hostname in the entry box, then click .B "Show Host". .IP "\fBClass Selection\fR" The second line contains a list of data class type toggle buttons. (e.g. .B "General, Hardware, Partition," ...) When an entry is selected (button depressed) that class of data will be displayed or undisplayed in the .B "Display Pane" below. When a class is selected for the first time the system will automatically be probed for the relevant data and displayed. When a class is de-selected the relevant data is removed from the .B "Display Pane" but kept in memory. If a previously de-selected class is re-selected the data will be displayed using the in memory data. .IP "\fBArrange Hardware\fR" This line relates only to .B Hardware class data and is used to select how the .B Hardware class data is organized. Arrangement options are as follows: .RS .IP \fBConnection\fR Hardware is organized according to how it is connected together. i.e. Disks on the same controller appear under the same controller. .IP \fBType\fR Hardware is organized by it's type. i.e. All disks appear together regardless of connection. .RE .IP "\fBDisplay Pane\fR" The .B "Display Pane" is the largest area of the main window and is where the class data is displayed. The pane is organized into a series of tree-like hierarchies with each class of data as the root of a tree. Lines which begin with a .B + (plus) have undisplayed data. Clicking once on such a line will reveal more detailed properties, but will not unveil any child nodes in the display (if any). .IP "\fBMessage Pane\fR" The .B "Message Pane" appears directly under the .B "Display Pane" and is used to display general messages and errors. .RE .SH MENUS .PP The describe the menus available from the .B "Menu Bar" at the top of the main window: .RS .IP "\fBFile\fR" .RS .IP "\fBOpen...\fR" Displays a file open dialog prompting for a file to use as input rather than querying the local or remote system. The file should be of the format specified by .B mcsysinforeport(5). .IP "\fBExit\fR" Exit the program. .RE .IP "\fBView\fR" .RS .IP "\fBAll Properties\fR" Toggles the display of all property values in the .B "Display Pane". .IP "\fBEnable Debug\fR" Toggles debugging output. .RE .IP "\fBHelp\fR" .RS .IP "\fBAbout...\fR" Displays version information. .IP "\fBLicense Info...\fR" Displays information about the license you are using. .IP "\fBLicense Terms...\fR" Displays the license terms for use of the software. .IP "\fBCopyright...\fR" Displays the copyright of the software. .RE .RE .SH AUTHOR MagniComp .br http://www.MagniComp.com .SH "URL"
